INTERVIEW | Richard Horne reacts to Dons win over Dewsbury Rams

Doncaster RLFC boss Richard Horne was dellighted with the way his side dominated the game as he watched the Dons beat Dewsbury Rams 38-12 at the Eco-Power Stadium on Sunday.

Tries from Josh Guzdek, Misi Taulapapa, Brad Knowles, Joe Lovodua, Pauli Pauli, Craig Hall and Connor Robinson saw the Dons pick up their third win of the 2024 Betfred Championship season on Sunday afternoon, marking a significant step forward. As his side moved up to joint fifth on the ladder,

Horne was proud of the prowess in attack and stubbornness to keep the Rams out of good ball. Speaking after the contest, the Dons boss was happy with the way his players controlled the clash and wants those standards to be driven even more so as the season progressed.

"It was a positive win. We carried on from last week with high completions. We spoke all week about the energy battle, which we didn't get right earlier in the year. But the boys played well, and we could have punished them more than we did.

"We look to improve each week. We grow from mistakes, and that's what we're doing. We won the battle down the middle, I thought Brad Knowles and Sui Matagi were outstanding. Loui McConnell also was great and mopped up the loose work as he always does. It's a simple game sometimes and we got the basics right.

Providing an injury update on Keelan Foster and Reece Lyne, who both left the field during the contest. Horne added: "It's not looking great for Reece and Keelan, but we will know more on Wednesday. We've got a squad for a reason, and now people will get their opportunity."

On next week's clash with Widnes, Horne is ready to head back to Merseyside and put on a better showing than the Challenge Cup defeat earlier this season. "Widnes are in great form and playing with energy. We will have to step it up another level."
